Aquarium in Pula

A very special experience for the whole family, not just because of the numerous sea creatures, but also because of the unusual building - the fortress Verudela.

It is one of many fortresses in Pula from the austrian-hungarian period, which was built in 1881.

Exhibited are there in 60 aquariums fish species from the adriatic sea, tropical marine and freshwater fish and freshwater fishes from european lakes and rivers. A total of 80 different fishes and 100 invertebrate species are shown.

Furthermore, there is a rescue center for sea turtles, as well as a very successful breeding of seahorses.

While snorkeling samples will be collected and at the beach layers will be analyzed.

The collected material will be determined, the main species will be described and their adaptation to environmental conditions analyzed.

At the boat trip you will be close to areas with rich biological material. Participants will become familiar with the basics of fishing. Samples are collected and analyzed.

Introduction into the marine environment

The goal is the exploration of biological and chemical factors and their impact on the marine ecosystem.

The oceanographic part of the workshop is concerned with the determination of the basic parameters and the importance of the marine environment.

The biological part of the workshop is concerned with the explanation of the basic food chain in the sea.
